Where to stay in Hvar, Croatia: harbor or quiet bay
Sleeping at Hvar's harbor puts you in the middle of the party; Milna or Jelsa are the calm alternative. Real hotels by budget.
Hvar is an island with a lot of energy from day one. Where you sleep decides whether you live the party up close or hear it from afar.
Center and harbor, or a quieter bay
The recommended area is Hvar's center and harbor, so you don't miss any of the nightlife, though it's the noisiest. If you want a calmer plan on the same island, look at Milna or Jelsa.

Low cost
- White Rabbit Hostel: a small, central hostel with a social atmosphere, ideal for meeting people and spending little.
Mid range
- Pharos Hvar Bayhill Hotel: modern, surrounded by nature, with a pool and a relaxed atmosphere. Good value for money and a resort feel while still being accessible.
- Riva Marina Hvar Hotel: on the seafront promenade, with harbor views, very popular among young couples for its lively, design-forward atmosphere.
- Heritage Hotel Dea Hvar: right in the center, a 3-minute walk from the Franciscan Monastery beach, with a good price for its location.
Luxury
- Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel: a boutique hotel with a rooftop, spa and harbor views. A top location, modern design and plenty of lifestyle.
- Podstine Hotel: in a secluded bay among palm and pine trees, with a spa, outdoor pool and Finnish sauna. A good option if you prefer something calmer, a bit away from the center.
Hvar is cheaper than Dubrovnik. If the budget is tight, here you can treat yourself with what you save in Dubrovnik.
Our recommendation
If you're going to Hvar to live the party, the harbor. If you want rest, Podstine, or Milna and Jelsa. Prices change a lot by season, and outside summer check what's still open on the island. You'll find it all in our 7-day Croatia itinerary, what to see in what to see in Hvar and how to get there in Dubrovnik to Hvar by ferry.
